Oathbreaker EP Review: Ancient Spirit

From the mighty SacredMetal.de:

[Singer Tom Davy] is really good and has a strong, melodic voice that cries out for the heroic American Metal by BURNING SHADOWS.

One could describe the band as a mixture of early ICED EARTH and not-so-early LIEGE LORD. The guitar work is absolutely outstanding and oscillates somewhere between thrashy gallop riffs and folky sections. 3 songs are over 8 minutes, and are consistently exciting. Of course, there are a number of breaks and tempo changes.

Not for the fast-food music freaks…. But it’s worth it! …This EP is already more than impressive.

Oathbreaker EP Review: KarlsMetal.com

From our brothers at KarlsMetal.com:

All of the elements of old and new that make up a Metal band today and with the tracks on this EP, this is definitely going to be the thing to bring them to Heavy Metal Valhalla within the underground. With “Supernatural Warfare” and “Haunter of the Dark”, tracks like those don’t grow on trees as I see a bright future for this band. That’s not me kissing ass and its not bragging if its truth.

It grabs you around the neck and shows you that “Ye Old Metal” still exists and this is the new generation holding true to it. Ending the EP is “Whisper Suffering”. The band really shines here and shows another side of itself  that was needed to exhibit the technical prowess and talent that pours out of their chalice. Power ballad? Sure, but it’s their’s and they do it well. ‘Nuff said.

Pick up this EP! You won’t be disappointed!

Into the Primordial & Oathbreaker EP Reviews: Speed of Light

Speed of Light is a Slovakian webzine written in Slovakian. The quotes below are from Google Translate, and of course they aren’t perfect translations. We hail them for their honest reviews and dedication to metal.

Into the Primordial Review

This is quite interesting power metal from USA. It is not “stereotyped”, the band plays a specific note, but it’s “America”. In something that reminds me ONWARD debut. But I hear there is also an old school U.S. Metal (old ICED EARTH)….

Oathbreaker EP Review

The band plays quite long songs (except the first track), as we had the pleasure to hear “Into the Primordial”. Musically, it is still an American power metal, only sound is a little different. It sounds more “ancient”.

Oathbreaker EP Review: Metal to Infinity

From Metal to Infinity:

Burning Shadows is inspired by bands like for example Iced Earth and Metal Church but they’re adding their own epic touch to it and that’s good because we’re not waiting for another clone. Burning Shadows is a very good US Metal band and worked hard to make this style’s typical elements recognizable.  “Haunter Of The Dark”, the best track to me, is a typical example for what I am trying to say. The song is full of awesome and sharp riffs, talented and technical drums, great vocal lines, fast guitar solos, a cold shivering and dark atmospheric middle part.

“Whisper Suffering” proves why Burning Shadows contains very good musicians. The intro by a piano part and cold shivering slow guitar pieces are impressive. Tom Davy easily sings along with his wide ranged voice and gives this emotional track the right touch. Once more you’ll hear good musical performances.

“Oathbreaker” is really worth checking out if you’re into US Metal and the more Epic kind of Metal. This is another band which deserves attention although I suppose they’re doomed to stay in the underground forever. But that doesn’t mean a thing because mostly the best Metal comes from beyond that surface although 2010 is exceptional in the other way. Nevertheless Burning Shadows brings a remarkable EP.
