The album features a collection of unreleased covers of songs by ICED EARTH, BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL, MANOWAR, GAMMA RAY, and SABATON, recorded over the years while Tom was an integral part of the band.

In Memoriam is a poignant homage to Tom Davy’s legacy, showcasing his vocal prowess. Among the highlights are previously unreleased tracks that offer a glimpse into BURNING SHADOWS’s musical journey. ICED EARTH’s “The Hunter” was recorded during the Gather, Darkness! recording sessions in 2011, while GAMMA RAY’s “Somewhere Out in Space” was captured during the Truth in Legend recording sessions in 2016. BLIND GUARDIAN’s “Born in a Mourning Hall” was originally recorded for “The Imaginations Song Contest,” which prompted BLIND GUARDIAN guitarist André Olbrich to exclaim “These guys love speed metal!” Other covers were recorded during The Last One to Fall EP sessions between the two aforementioned albums.

The closing track, SABATON’s “The Carolean’s Prayer,” was chosen by Tom himself as a one-off cover in 2016. It was finished in late 2023 after the band learned of Tom’s passing. Despite not speaking Swedish, Tom passionately recorded the Swedish chorus as well as expertly harmonizing it, leaving a lasting imprint on the final piece. Chris Dagenhart, former BURNING SHADOWS bassist and longtime friend of Tom, was recruited to provide the bassline for Tom’s final song to be completed.

“BURNING SHADOWS has always been a brotherhood, and Tom was an essential part of that bond,” says founder and guitarist Tim Regan. “This album is a tribute to the incredible talent and spirit that Tom brought to our music. The outpouring of support from our fans upon Tom’s passing reminds us all to reach out for help if you need it. We are all in this together.”

Tom and BURNING SHADOWS amicably parted ways in 2021 due to his relocation to Texas. New music with Tom’s successor, the indomitable Pete Lesko, will be released in 2024. What turned out to be Tom’s final live performance at Into Battle Fest III in Athens, Greece on December 14, 2019, can be heard on the Steel Diplomacy live album.

In Memoriam is a moving moment for BURNING SHADOWS and their fans, celebrating the life, talent, and legacy of Tom Davy. The album will be available on all major streaming platforms. Proceeds will be donated to a suicide prevention charity in the US.
