History

Formed in 2000, US power metal band BURNING SHADOWS brings to life haunting tales of the classic writers such as HP Lovecraft, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, Robert Bloch, and Fritz Lieber, as well as other stories ranging from mythology to fantasy to history. These powerful tales are delivered through appropriately melodic, epic, and thrashy power metal inspired by the European and US stalwarts of the genre.

BURNING SHADOWS has been steadily releasing new EPs and albums throughout its existence. The debut album, 2008’s Into the Primordial laid the groundwork for future releases, including 2012’s Gather, Darkness!, an epic concept album based on the dystopian Fritz Leiber novel of the same name, and 2017’s Truth in Legend, solidifying the band’s legacy in the underground.
Between albums, BURNING SHADOWS has offered a steady stream of EPs included 2002’s The Darkest Winter, 2003’s Amongst the Dying Waves, 2010’s Oathbreaker (the first release to include singer Tom Davy), 2013’s The Last One to Fall, and 2019’s album-length EP Beneath the Ruins, the first BURNING SHADOWS release on Germany’s Rafchild Records.

Throughout the years, BURNING SHADOWS has shared the stage with many influential bands such as TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, JAG PANZER, TÝR, SONATA ARCTICA, PRIMAL FEAR, and more. BURNING SHADOWS has performed at numerous far-flung metal festivals including appearances in Athens, Greece; Marburg, Germany; Minneapolis, MN, USA; Atlanta, GA, USA; Columbus, OH, USA; and more.

BURNING SHADOWS is currently continuing to forge new tales and keeping US power metal alive and kicking.
