• Sarnath

    Words & Music: Tim Regan

Ancient fields lie fallow lost in time
As old as the land itself, here they thrive

In their city formed of cold gray stone
The heathens dance for idols of gods unknown

The creatures, once revered, we abhor
Sarnath, across the lake, lies adored
An unexplained hate fills our veins
Our high priests will rule these barren plains

Today we attack under dawn’s first rays
Vanguard of man will lead through the haze
    Beneath the sun’s incessant gaze
Ending the weak with triumphant praise

In our gardens thrive eternal spring
Statues and shrines adorn the green
Holy city, sworn to uphold god’s word
Realize the theater of the absurd

Today we attack under dawn’s first rays
Vanguard of man will lead through the haze
The Earth will weep, the sky will quake
Drown the weak beneath the lake

On the thousandth year of their victory
    Awakening amongst the dying waves
    Tonight our warlords will arise
    Beneath the water vengeance lies

Tonight we attack under moonlight’s veil
Driven by hate we shall not fail
    A living nightmare, reigning death
We shall rob them of their final breath

Nights before the death had come
Faint lights shone upon the water
    Shadows fell before Sarnath’s gates
And a gibbous moon called to the lake

Close to the hour of midnight
    The bronze-wrought gates burst wide
    Those within fled in fright
From the shadows cast unto the night

For hordes of the dead had risen
    Dancing horribly, bringing ruin
To the temples and gods of Sarnath
Upon the ground their bodies dashed

    Gardens now set ablaze
    Doom scrawled upon the altar
A new mist above the lake
Crimson hue the air does take
